Welcome to the unofficial Tank Girl WWW site home of everyone's favourite punkster chick.
Tank Girl is the creation of Worthing comic artists Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin. She first appeared in Deadline magazine, and quickly rose like a metaphor, to reach international fame, in an ultimately poorly drawn and apatheticly handled disaster.
Um... I'll try that again. We still love Tank Girl despite certain horrors done in her name, because she is more than a comic. Tank Girl is a wonderfully liberating idea for which I'll have to think of an amazingly emotionally stirring reason later.Right. Haven't touched this site since... (checks logs) ...Feb 2001... Wow. Ages (and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to use VI to edit it last time, where's emacs gone?)... Well, I'm not updating it now, I'm just adding a wee call for help from someone who asked nicely (and replacing that last call for help back in 2000).
Are you Tank Girl's no.1 fan?The BBC documentaries department are producing a series about the history of British Comics. The final programme includes a look at Deadline and the comic heroine Tank Girl. We are looking to speak to Tank Girl's number one female fan. Did you follow Tank Girl from her birth in Deadline? Were you part of that generation that thought Tank Girl was a breath of fresh air? Did you religiously read every strip that featured Tank Girl? Can you comment on the significance of the cultural/social scene at the time of Tank Girl? Was Tank Girl your fashion inspiration?
If you are this no. 1 fan or you know of someone who is, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us on tankgirlfans@hotmail.co.uk

| Clones | If you've ever seen an issue of Deadline you know they constantly got letters from people saying, "Hey I know someone who just about is Tank Girl and should get to play her in the film." They even got these months after the part had been cast. Well, this is a gallery of people who look in some way like Tank Girl. Most of these were sent to me by people just like you who have a friend they think looks like her. Over the years Tank Girl stuff has been harder and hard to
find. I've now set up a bunch of links to
places where you can buy the books, soundtrack, or movie over the
net. Still not much luck on shirts, posters, and etc. Whereever you see the
symbol, that means you can buy the damn thing over the net.
I've deals with the following places to make life easier for you:
Some random news on Tank Girl might occasionally be found on alt.fan.tank-girl as occasionally there's an on topic post, but don't count on it. All I've seen on it for the past year or so has been adverts for Dutch porn sites. For more serious questions, maybe try alt.comics.alternative. Then again I've not looked at that site since the early 90s, so I've no idea if it's even still in use.
About now you're thinking:
also, if you know anyone who looks like Tank Girl, get a picture of them and get it to me. Either encode it and email it to me. I'll put it on the clones page. Or you could conceivably post it to me and I'll scan it. But ask me first.
Lastly, if ther're any Tank Girl products you think the world really needs, tell me and I might put it the wish list.
